Creative and Talent Competitions:        

Entries for the creative and talent competitions must be submitted upon registration. Materials will be on display until judging. Individuals must be present to accept the award. The decision of the judges will be final.  

Art – Categories include:

A. Drawing
B. Painting
C. “Free form” (e.g. sculptures, carvings, etc.) Entries must have a wildlife-related theme. There will be a limit of one entry per student per category. Entries that have won any other competition will not be permitted.  

Photography – Categories include:

A. Black-and-white print
B. Color print
C. Game Camera print Photos must contain a wildlife-related theme.  Animals must be native to North America and must free-ranging (e.g., not captive or in enclosures). There will be one entry per student per category.  Entries should be mounted on a stiff backing with prints no larger than 8”x10” and matting no larger than 11”x14”.  Entries that have been previously published or have won any other competition will not be permitted.  

Wildlife Calling-   Categories include:

A. Duck
B. Goose
C. Turkey
D. Other Wildlife The use of calling devices will be permitted (no electronic calls).There will be a limit of one caller per category per school. Each caller will be allowed a 1 minute warm up. Callers will be allowed a maximum of 2 minutes for actual competition calling.  

Essay-   

The essay topic is "What emphasis should be given to management decisions that restore habitat to historic conditions compared to management decisions that benefit current populations and species?" The essay must be typed, double-spaced, and no more than three pages in length not including the literature cited. UAM and ATU faculty will perform judging. To eliminate biases, please do not put your name or school name on the essay. Instead each essay will be assigned a unique number.  In order for your essay to be considered, you must email an electronic copy of the essay by March 25, 2009 to adavis6@atu.edu – include “Wildlife Conclave Essay” in the subject title.
