APPOINTMENT: 40% Teaching, 60% Research.

Teaching: I currently teach two freshman-level courses, Orientation to Forest and Wildlife Management for majors and Humans and Forest Resources for non-majors; the fire portion of the junior-level Forest Operations and Fire, two senior-level courses, Forest Pest Management and Seminar and one graduate course Research Methods.

Research: My current research focuses on two themes. First, assessing the impact of imported fire ants in Arkansas and the South. Second, investigating the biology and ecology of arthropods affecting forest structure, function and productivity. This includes examining the effects forestry practices have on arthropods, especially ground beetles and spiders, to determine if these animals can be used as indicators of forest disturbance and/or recovery.

Extension: Provide technical assistance to the Cooperative Extension Service and individual landowners on fire ant control and economic impact.
