Current Position:

Associate Professor and George H. Clippert Chair of Forest Resource Economics, Management and Policy, University of Arkansas-Monticello, June 15, 2001 - present.  Teach courses in Forest Economics, Advanced Forest Management, and Non-Industrial  Forestry.  Conduct applied research in non-industrial forest economics, management and policy.

Work History:

Associate Professor, Forest Management and Economics.  University of Kentucky Department of Forestry, July 1, 1997 - June 30, 2001.    Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Timber Management, Natural Resource Problem Solving, Integrated Forest Resource Management, Quantitative Methods in Renewable Resource Management and Applications of Geographic Information Systems to Natural Resources.  Conduct basic and applied research in numerical methods in stand level optimization, development of forest and natural resource information systems, and surface mine reforestation.

Director of Undergraduate Studies.  The University of Kentucky Department of Forestry.  February 1, 1999 - June 30, 2001.  Direct and coordinate all undergraduate instruction advising, and recruiting within the Department of Forestry.

Assistant Professor, Forest Management and Economics.  University of Kentucky Department of Forestry, September 4, 1991 - June 30, 1997.

Research Assistant, Department of Forest Resources, University of  Minnesota, September 22, 1985 - August 31, 1991.  Taught Forest Economics and Management in 1990, teaching assistant for same course 1988, 1989, and 1991.  Conducted research in forest information systems development and planning.  

Forest Intern, Chesapeake Corporation, West Point, Virginia, May 1, 1985 to September 14, 1985.  Forest inventory of pine plantations and natural hardwood stands on the Eastern Shore region of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.

Forest Intern, Westvaco Corporation, West Virginia Woodlands, Rupert, West Virginia, May 1, 1984-August 14, 1985.  Photo interpretation, inventory layout and field inventory of natural hardwood stands throughout West Virginia.

1998  Fulbright Senior Scholar Lecturing Awarded to the State University of Novosibirsk, Russian Federation.

1996 National Research Council Young Investigator Program on  Sustainable Forest Management in Russia.
