1. Graduate Assistantships in Forest Economics, Management, and Policy

 

1. Graduate Research Assistants, University of Arkansas-Monticello, School of Forest Resources

Two (2) positions available for graduate assistantships in the Master of Science in Forestry program at UA-M.

These positions start in August of 2007 and provide students with a $15,000 per year stipend for a 24-month period. Graduate Assistants are provided further financial assistance through the waiver of tuition and certain fees. Additionally, work/study space is provided for each Graduate Assistant.

Potential research topics include (but are not limited to):

  1. Factors that determine or predict stumpages prices
  1. An economic comparison of hunting leases.
  1. Review and analysis of state forest practices regulations in the U.S.
  1. Economic impacts of the red oak borer and other forest pests in Arkansas
  1. Assessment of impacts of severance taxes on Arkansas forest industry.
  1. Numerical analysis and dynamic programming .
  1. Cost analysis of BMPs.
  2. Economics related to bioenergy production
  3. Designing bioenergy ecosystems for ecological services
  4. Natural-resource based economic development

Graduate assistantships provide support for two full years of study.  Applicants must be accepted for graduate study in the M.S. Forestry Program at UA-M.
