Fall Undergraduate Forest Ecology (FOR 3513) Introduction to the role of ecology and ecological concepts in forest management. Emphasizing ecosystems, energy and nutrient cycling, abiotic/biotic influences on ecosystem development, population ecology, and community ecology. Prerequisites Forest Measurements, Forest Soils, Junior Standing. Graduate Seminar (FRS 5691) Advance study into the structure and function of forest ecosystems including current and founding theories on energy flow, nutrient cycling, temporal change in and disturbance of ecosystems, landscape and spatial relationships, biodiversity, and anthropogenic alteration of ecosystems. Prerequisites a class in Ecology. Spring Classes Undergraduate Forest Hydrology (FOR 3592) Basic environmental characteristics and processes, which control the movement, distribution, and quality of water resources in forest ecosystems, will be reviewed. The effect of forest and natural resource management practices on hydrological processes and water resources will be emphasized. Prerequisites: Forest Soil and Forest Measurements.
