STEM ANALYSIS

Stem analysis was conducted on 24 trees thinned in 1985 (files SA85_24.dat and SA85_24.doc), 45 trees thinned in 1988 (files SA88_45.dat and SA88_45.doc), and 38 trees thinned in 1993 (files SA93_38.dat and SA93_38.doc).  Files with the *.dat extension are unformatted (ASCII) data files and are accompanied by explanatory files with the *.doc extension.

SA85_24.dat, SA85_24.doc - contains stem analysis data for 24 trees thinned in 1985 at age 27.

SA88_45.dat, SA88_45.doc - contains stem analysis data for 45 trees thinned in 1988 at age 30.

SA93_38.dat, SA93_38.doc - contains stem analysis data for 38 trees thinned in 1993 at age 35.

Figure 8.  38 trees were analyzed in 1993 when the stand was 35 years old with the friendly help of Weyerhauser researchers (David Bower, who in 1968 reviewed and augmented Burton's study plan, is in the red hard hat).
