Monticello Lumber Grades Data--For Excel File Lumber.xls and data file Lumber.dat.

Variables Names	Description of Variables
Tag #	Mill Tag Numbers--This is the same tag number in the data set MONDATA.xls. This tag number will tell you what plot and treatment the tree had. NM= no number
Letter	Position of the mill log A=1^st log, B= 2^nd Log, C= 3^rd Log, D= 4^th Log, E=5^th Log
Board #	Number of a Board
Thick	Thickness of a Board in Inches ( Nominal dimensions for 1 inch and 2 inch)
Original Length	Length of the board before the board was trim for grading. (feet)
Meas Width	Measurement width of the boards. (inches)
Lumber Grade Width	Lumber Grade width of the Boards.
Grade	SPIB Lumber Dry Grade
Grade Length	Length (feet) of the board that was graded.
Board foot for 5/4 boards only
Scale off for 5/4 boards only
Degrade 1	First Reason for Degrade: DK--Decay Knots CK--Checks MD -- Machine Damages WA-- Wane WP-- Warp KS--Knot Size SK--Skips HO--Holes SG--Slope of Grain PP--Pitch Pockets SH--Shakes
Degrade 2	Second reason for degrade.
Potential Grade if Warp or Damage Ignored (Feet)	Lengths of the Graded Part of the Board if the Board was free of Warp or Damage.
Potential Grade if Warp or Damage Ignored	SPIB Grade if Warp or Damage Ignored
comments	All boards from logs "C, D, & E " 8 feet in length were only green graded. All 1" lumber from logs "C, D,E" was only green graded. All 2"x12" from logs "C, D, E, was only graded in the green.
