Information for Transfer Students

Professional Programs in Forestry, Wildlife Management and Spatial Information Systems

The unique programs of the School of Forest Resources (SFR) provide outstanding opportunities for transfer students to continue their education and pursue a professional degree. The SFR is the only school of forestry in Arkansas. The bachelor's program in Forestry is fully accredited by the Society of American Foresters. The Wildlife Management bachelor's degree is the only one offered in the State with a wildlife management / habitat management orientation. The new Spatial Information Systems degree offers two options: GIS / GPS / Remote Sensing and Land Surveying. The School offers the only four-year bachelor's surveying program in the State. No minor is required in these programs.

Because the first two years of each program emphasizes a general education in the sciences and humanities, it is relatively easy to transfer into these programs from Community College programs without loss of credits or an extended program at UA - Monticello. For example, prospective transfer students who concentrate their lower division work in the Arkansas Core Curriculum should have no problems transferring after two years if they also choose their electives carefully to match the supportive requirements of the program into which they desire to transfer.
